Kyiv, April 14 – The Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund has said that payments to depositors of Brokbusinessbank (Kyiv) will start from April 22, according to a press release of the fund.

The fund said that under the law on the system of individuals’ deposit guarantee system the fund will give a targeted loan to Brokbusinessbank to pay to depositors under agreements which expired and under bank account agreements. The loan will be issued in tranches, the sum of which will depend on the size of liabilities of the bank to depositors over the relevant period.

In general, in the period of operation of temporary administration, payments on 260,000 accounts will be settled.

According to Ukrainian law, the largest sum that is compensated to depositors is Hr 200,000.

As reported, temporary administration was introduced at Brokbusinessbank in March 2014.

Head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Stepan Kubiv said in late March that several potential investors are interested in problem bank Brokbusinessbank.

As reported, Alfa-Bank (Kyiv) sent proposals to the NBU on the possibility of recovering the country’s problem banks using market instruments but not via their nationalization.

In addition, according to unofficial data, Delta Bank (Kyiv) offered the NBU its vision for solving the problem of Brokbusinessbank.

Brokbusinessbank was founded in 1991. VETEK Group said it holds 40 percent in the bank.

According to the bank, on January 1, 2014 Oleksandr Buriak owned 9.3961 percent of its shares, and Serhiy Buriak 9.3962 percent.

According to the National Bank of Ukraine, on January 1, 2014 Brokbusinessbank ranked 16th in terms of total assets (Hr 28.914 billion) among the 180 banks operating in Ukraine.
