Ukraine's inclusion in a rating of countries that are liberalizing tax legislation is a sign of the progress achieved by the country, Regions Party MP Oleksiy Plotnikov has said.

He said this while commenting on the Paying Taxes 2013 rating, in which the World Bank praised the reforms that are being conducted in Ukraine’s tax sphere.

“The fact that Ukraine was included in the rating of countries that are liberalizing tax legislation indicates that international experts see the achievements of our state… Despite all of the criticisms, we are reducing the number of taxes and reducing the time spent by taxpayers on registering reports,” the Regions Party’s press service quoted Plotnikov as saying on Wednesday.

He said that the assessment of these achievements by international experts confirmed that Ukraine is on the right path.

“This shows that our country is improving tax administration and transparency in this sphere. These are important achievements and good indicators of the government’s work,” he said.

In an official report on the Paying Taxes 2013 rating, which was released on November 21, World Bank experts said that the changes taking place in Ukraine’s tax sphere meet the current world trends.
