Ukraine's Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Yuriy Prodan has stated that there has been a reduction of Russian gas transit through Ukraine and Slovakia via the Uzhgorod corridor by 25 percent.

“Transit is continuing, but it is reduced by 25 percent,” he told reporters in Kyiv.

The minister said that Ukraine’s stable passing of the heating season would depend on temperature conditions, reverse gas supplies from Europe and the effectiveness of measures taken to save gas.

Earlier Naftogaz Ukrainy board chairman Andriy Kobolev said that a significant reduction in the supply of natural gas from Slovakia to Ukraine might occur only if Russia’s Gazprom significantly restricts supplies to Europe through the existing routes of Nord Stream, via Belarus and Ukraine.

As reported, Gazprom is reducing the supply of natural gas through Ukraine and Slovakia via the Uzhgorod corridor. While at the beginning of the month the delivery exceeded 60 million cubic meters, from September 12 it started to decline to 50-55 million cubic meters. In particular, from September 15 the supplies, according to live data, amounted to 49.6 million cubic meters, and on September 16 – 48.9 million cubic meters.
