Hyundai Corporation has presented a high-speed train for Ukraine, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported.

The report says that Vice Premier an Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov took part in a ceremony of the presentation of the first train in Changwon (South Korea).

"The train is only the beginning of our future cooperation," Kolesnikov said at the ceremony on Tuesday.

He said that first two trains will arrive to Ukraine in late January 2012. Another four trains will be shipped to the country by early May.

The six trains will be transferred to Ukrzaliznytsia by the Euro 2012 European football championship and they will be used to connect four cities hosting the tournament.

The vice premier said that first high-speed trains will run on regular routes from May 2012.

"From May holidays Ukrainians will be able to use the trains," Kolesnikov said.

He told the press that the price of second class tickets for the new trains will be up to Hr 220, and those tickets bought in advance will cost Hr 160-180.

Thanks to the new trains, it will take 3.5 hours to pass the distance from Kyiv to Kharkiv and 4.5 hours from Kyiv to Lviv and 5.5 hours from Kyiv to Donetsk.

Ukrzaliznytsia and Hyundai Corporation in December 2010 signed a contract on supply of ten high-speed trains.
