Large pharmaceutical company Nycomed (Switzerland) has agreed with Kusum Pharm plant Ltd. (Sumy) on the end production at the Sumy plant of Actovegin, a medicine to treat heart disease, reads a posting on the Web site of Sumy regional administration.

"According to a new production scheme, the medicine in ampoules and bottles will be sent to Ukraine from Austria, and it will be packaged at Kusum Pharm," reads the report.

"We’ve been working on the issue of bringing Actovegin to Ukraine for a long period of time. The localization of the medicine packaging will ensure its availability in pharmacies and make it easier to get to patients," reads the report, citing Nycomed director in Ukraine, Yevhen Zaika.

The report says that a first consignment of Actovegin will be ready soon, and its sales will start in Ukraine at once.

As reported, Kusum Pharm produces solid and liquid non-sterile medicines taken orally.

Nycomed is a private international pharmaceutical company with a varied portfolio of brands.
