You're reading: Tariffs for rail cargo handling to rise by 10% in 2013

Tariffs for rail freight transportation in Ukraine during 2013 will be increased in three stages, which will lead to an overall increase of 10%.

According to order №310-r of the Infrastructure Ministry of Ukraine dated May 21, 2013 on amending the coefficients applied to the tariffs of the collection of tariffs for freight transportation by rail inside Ukraine and related services, which was registered at the Justice Ministry on June 1, 2013 and published in the Uriadovy Kurier newspaper, the increase from the official date of publication will be 4%, from July 1-3%, and from Oct 1-2.8%.

The head of the main commercial department of State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia reported in Nov 2012 that it proposed that freight tariffs be raised by 12.2% in 2013.

According to Merkulov, Ukrzaliznytsia expected additional revenues from the increase in tariffs to be Hr 3.6 billion in 2013.

He also noted that the administration proposed that tariffs be raised by 21% in 2012, although the tariffs were not increased.
