You're reading: Tax Code could be considered in parliament on Nov. 18 at latest

The Verkhovna Rada's committee for tax and customs policy will prepare and summarize proposals put forth for the draft Tax Code by Nov. 4, 2010, the committee's head, Vitaliy Khomutnyk (the Regions Party) said on Wednesday.

He said that the committee’s members "are quite fruitfully working every day, including on weekends, without even breaks, in the mode of standing ad hoc groups" to finalize the Tax Code.

"Today is the deadline for the submission of proposals from those authorized to put forth legislative initiatives," he said. "I believe there will be about 2,000 proposals by the end of the day."

He said the committee will then start processing the proposals, prepare a comparative table and "will try to handle" all the proposals to start the consideration of the draft Tax Code on Nov. 4, 2010, in the session hall.

"If we see that some issues remain mismatched and there is a need to hold additional consultations, then the latest we will definitely pass the Tax Code is November 18," he said, explaining that he meant the date when the document could be passed in parliament.

Moreover, Khomutnyk stressed that the committee had decided to reschedule the levying of tax on income from individuals’ deposits for 2015.

"The main reason is that the banking sector today is not ready to digest such an innovation," he said.
