Ukraine in January-August 2014 imported 114,000 tonnes of meat and meat products from the projected 179,000 tonnes over the year.
According to the balance of the Interdepartmental Working Group at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, during this period the country received 67,000 tonnes of pork, 34,000 tonnes of poultry and 8,000 tonnes of beef.
According to the ministry, exports of meat and meat products from the country over the eight months amounted to 129,000 tonnes, in particular, 104,000 tonnes of poultry, 17,000 tonnes of beef and 5,000 tonnes of pork.
The ministry expects that in general for the year Ukraine will supply to foreign markets 190,000 tonnes of this produce.
Meat production in the country in January-August is estimated at 1.469 million tonnes.
The ministry predicts that meat production in 2014 will amount to 2.431 million tonnes, in particular poultry – 1.222 million tonnes, pork – 790,000 tonnes, beef – 390,000 tonnes.
