You're reading: Ukraine approves increase of electricity tariffs for households by 3.5 times in five stages by April 2017

The National Commission of Ukraine for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) has approved the five-stage increase in electricity for households: they to grow by 3.5 times by April 2017, reaching Hr 122.83 kopecks per kilowatt-hour (kWh), an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported.

At present, the average tariff for electricity for households is 35.58 kopecks per kWh.

The tariffs will grow from April 1, 2015, from Sept. 1, 2015, March 1, 2016, Sept. 1, 2016 and March 1, 2017.

From April 1, 2015 the tariff for the first consumption block will grow by 19 percent, to 36.6 kopecks per kWh, for the second consumption block – by 50 percent, to 63 kopecks and for the third consumption block – by 5 percent, to 140.7 kopecks per kWh.

From Sept. 1, 2015, the tariff for the first consumption block will grow by 25 percent, to 45.6 kopecks per kWh, for the second consumption block – by 25 percent, to 78.9 kopecks and for the third consumption block – by 5 percent, to 140.9 kopecks per kWh.

From March 1, 2016, the tariff for the first consumption block will grow to 57 kopecks per kWh, for the second consumption block to 99 kopecks and for the third consumption block to 156 kopecks per kWh.

From Sept. 1, 2016, the tariff for the first consumption block will grow to 71.4 kopecks per kWh, for the second consumption block to 129 kopecks and for the third consumption block to 163.8 kopecks per kWh.

After the last fifth increase from March 1, 2017 the cost of electricity for households for the first block will be 90 kopecks per kWh, for second and third blocks – 168 kopecks per kWh.
