Ukraine as of August 14 had threshed 25.3 million tonnes of grain from 65% of the areas to be harvested, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine has said.
According to the report, the average yield of grains in the country was 25.8 centners per ha.
In addition, according to the ministry, agricultural enterprises have started harvesting sunflower. They harvested 23,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds from 21,000 hectares at the average yield being 10.9 centners per ha.
As reported, according to the ministry, the grain harvest in Ukraine this year will amount to 45.3 million tonnes against 56.7 million tonnes in 2011.
The country's need in grain is estimated at 28 million tonnes per year.
