Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Andriy Pyvovarsky and Georgian Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Ukleba have agreed to develop new directions of cooperation in the passenger transportation area.

The press service of the Infrastructure Ministry reported on Feb. 5 that the sides pointed at the absence of any problems in transportation between the two countries: bilateral transportation by road and air are liberalized as much as possible and they satisfy the modern needs. Rail-ferry communications is being developed.

The ambassador said that 17,000 Ukrainians more visited Georgia in 2014 than in 2013, which is evidence of a potential of new joint projects in the passenger transportation area. Georgia is interested in resumption of voyages of passenger ships between Georgian and Ukrainian ports and extending the route to ports in Turkey and Bulgaria after the introduction of visa-free regime with the EU countries.

The sides agreed to study the issues in details as a part of a working group on transport. Ukraine proposed to hold a first meeting in the first quarter of 2015 and during a meeting of the Ukrainian-Georgian economic commission (tentatively June 2015).
