You're reading: Ukraine in first two months of 2014 imports 4.1 billion cubic meters of Russian gas worth $1.1 billion

 Ukraine in January-February 2014 imported 4.120 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas from Russia. According to the State Statistics Service, the value of the gas imported over the two months was $1.106 billion, which is $268.50 per 1,000 cubic meters. In February, Ukraine imported 1.649 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia for $442.762 million.

 Compared to January-February 2013, Ukraine’s gas imports for the two months of the current year decreased by 13.2%, in terms of value – by 44.1%.

In January-February 2014, Ukraine imported gas only from Russia, whereas over the two months of 2013 in addition to Russian gas (4.651 billion cubic meters), natural gas was also imported from Germany (97.294 million cubic meters).

As reported, with reference to data from the State Statistics Service, in 2013 Ukraine imported 27.972 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $11.538 billion, including 25.840 billion cubic meters for $10.685 billion from Russia, 890.616 million cubic meters for $347.036 million from Germany, 613.571 million cubic meters worth $250.347 million from Hungary, 533.876 million cubic meters for $217.539 million from Austria, 93.494 million cubic meters for $38.225 million from Poland.
