Natural gas transit through Ukraine to Europe in January 2014 increased by 5.3% compared to January 2013, to 7.4 billion cubic meters, the press service of PJSC Ukrtransgaz has said.

According to its data, gas transportation for Ukrainian consumers last month fell by 5% compared to January 2013, to 6.6 billion cubic meters.

The press service also specified that gas deliveries to Ukraine from Russia in January this year amounted to 2.5 billion cubic meters, while there were no imports from Europe. In January 2013, gas imports from Russia and Europe amounted to 2.491 billion cubic meters.

“In the period of low temperature regimes in January, Ukrtransgaz on time and in full fulfilled all applications for natural gas transportation to European and Ukrainian consumers,” said the director of the central dispatcher department of Ukrtransgaz, Andriy Datsiuk.

As reported, transit of Gazprom natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system in 2013 amounted to 86.126 billion cubic meters, which is 2.2% more than in 2012. Transit to Europe amounted to 83.74 billion cubic meters, and to Moldova – 2.386 billion cubic meters.
