Tensions have mounted in the army operation area in eastern Ukraine over the past 24 hours, operation spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Dec. 30.
“On the whole, the situation in the area of the anti-terrorist operation has
become even more dangerous in the past 24 hours,” he said.
Tensions have also escalated near Donetsk airport, he said.
“Our airport is under fire. It is being attacked. They are fighting back,”
Lysenko said.
The spokesman, however, was unable either to confirm or deny reports that six
Ukrainian soldiers had been killed near the Donetsk airport in the past 24
hours.
