You're reading: Ukraine since early 2012/13 agricultural year exports 11.8 million tonnes of grain

Grain exports from Ukraine since the start of the agricultural year (July 2012 – June 2013) as of November 30, 2012 came to 11.76 million tonnes, which is 71.3% up on the previous year, according to information from the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine.

The report says that the country exported 5.48 million tonnes of wheat, which is 2.6 times up, including 4.64 million tonnes of bread wheat, and 4.36 million tonnes of corn, which is 56.9% up. At the same time, barley exports fell by 4.3%, to 1.76 million tonnes.

The report says that in November Ukraine exported 3.37 million tonnes of grain, including 1.42 million tonnes of wheat, 230,000 tonnes of barley and 1.67 million tonnes of maize.

The ministry said that as of November 30, 2012, 1.1 million tonnes of grain was stored at portside elevators (including 175,000 tonnes of wheat), and 295,000 tonnes was loaded on ships (including 94,000 tonnes of wheat).

Thus, the volume of exported and grain prepared for exports amounts to 13.1 million tonnes, including 5.75 million tonnes of wheat.

The ministry said oilseeds exports since the beginning of the MY had increased by 32.7%, to 1.37 million tonnes. Rapeseed exports grew by 17.7%, to 890,000 tonnes, and soybeans – by 73.8%, to 480,000 tonnes. Sunflower seed exports were 53,100 tonnes, while last year the figure was 45,900 tonnes.
