Ukraine as of March 15, 2013 had sown spring crops on 450,000 hectares, which is 15% of the projected area, according to the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food.

According to the report, Crimean farmers sowed crops on 90,900 hectares, exceeding the target by 2%.

According to the ministry, farmers in Odesa region sowed spring crops on 130,500 hectares (69% of the forecast), in Kherson region – 126,900 hectares (82%), Mykolaiv region – 59,400 hectares (67%), Zaporizhia region – 37,200 hectares (17%), Dnipropetrovsk region – 5,900 hectares (3%), and Donetsk region – 3,600 hectares (2%).

As reported, with reference to the ministry, areas under spring grains and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2013 could reach 8.1 million hectares, which is almost 10% down from 2012.
