The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine plans to create a single state register of farm livestock, which will be used in keeping an electronic register of livestock, reads a report of the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine.

The report says that this is stipulated in a draft order drawn up by the ministry.

It is expected that after the document takes effect, all farm livestock will obtain identification numbers.

The report says that the register will contain information only on livestock, and not on their owners.

The service said that the provision of the identification of
livestock is an obligatory requirement for farmers when obtaining budget
subsidies. In addition, the report says that controls over livestock
are required to provide for a stable anti-epizootic situation in the
country.

At present, the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service indentify livestock.
