The Presidium of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FTUU) has supported the nomination of Yuriy Kulyk as federation head.

This decision was taken at a meeting of the FTUU Presidium on Wednesday, Interfax-Ukraine learned at the federation’s press service.

Kulyk was nominated by a number of member organizations of the FTUU.

A final decision on a new head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine (FTUU) will be taken at a meeting of the FTUU Council on November 11.

The presidium also accepted the resignation of the current head of FTUU, Vasyl Khara.

Deputy Chairman of the Federation Hryhoriy Osovy will act as the FTUU head until the meeting of the Federation’s Council.

Kulyk previously served as the first deputy head of FTUU, but resigned on Aug. 8 in protest against the action of Khara.

As reported, the incumbent head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine Vasyl Khara resigned on Nov. 7 during a telephone conference of the heads of FTUU member organizations.

Khara is a Regions Party MP who heads the parliamentary committee on social policy and labor. He was elected as chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine on Nov. 20, 2008 and re-elected to this post on March 24, 2011.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office said that in June and July 2011, 35 criminal cases were opened regarding the illegal appropriation of sanatoriums run by the FTUU.
