You're reading: Ukrainian airlines get OK to operate new routes

UTair Ukraine, Wizz Air Ukraine and Air Onix airlines have obtained the right to operate some new routes, the State Aviation Service of Ukraine has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The service said that the decision to issue the assignments was made at a meeting of the license commission of the State Aviation Service on March 14, 2013.

UTair Ukraine obtained assignments for the Kyiv-Belgrade, Kyiv-Tallinn, Kyiv-Sofia, Kyiv-Bucharest, Kyiv-Riga, Kyiv-Stockholm, Kyiv-Copenhagen, Donetsk-Barcelona, Kyiv-Barcelona, Odesa-Kaliningrad, Donetsk-St.Petersburg and Kharkiv-St. Petersburg routes.

Wizz Air Ukraine obtained assignments for the Kyiv-Dubai, Kyiv-Moscow, Kyiv-St. Petersburg, Kyiv-Bucharest, Kyiv-Vilnius, Kyiv-Sofia, Donetsk-Kutaisi and Kharkiv-Kutaisi routes.

Earlier AeroSvit airline operated the said routes, while Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) operates them now.

Air Onix Airline obtained assignments for the Kyiv-Barcelona, Kyiv-Stockholm, Kyiv-Riga, Simferopol-Riga, Simferopol-Bratislava, Kyiv-Moscow, Kyiv-St. Petersburg, Kyiv-Kaliningrad, Simferopol-Kaliningrad, Simferopol-Novosibirsk, Simferopol-Tyumen, Simferopol-Ufa, Simferopol-Krasnoyarsk, Simferopol-Kazan and Simferopol-Yekaterinburg routes.

In addition, the State Aviation Service issued assignments to Aviatrans K for the Kyiv-Barcelona route and Motor Sich Airline for the Vinnytsia-Moscow route.

UTair-Ukraine was founded in September 2008. Currently UTair-Ukraine performs regular and charter flights abroad using ATR-42, ATR 72-500, Boeing 737-400, and CRJ-200 aircraft. Its main hubs are Kyiv and Luhansk airports.

Wizz Air Ukraine LLC is part of Wizz Air Group. At present, the carrier operates three Airbus-320 aircraft on 17 routes to nine countries.

Air Onix was founded in Simferopol in 2007. At present, the airline’s fleet includes three Boeing 737-300/500 aircraft. Its main hub is Simferopol international airport.
