You're reading: Ukrainian Finance Ministry might increase state debt in 2015

Ukraine's Finance Ministry is not ruling out the possibility of increasing debt in 2015 using borrowed funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak told journalists on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

“As of today, the government is meeting obligations with the help of the resources we have. There is no sense in taking out new loans right now. But for next year, we’ll see where we are with the currency balance and we’ll plan. It’s possible there will be an increase in the [IMF] program, but we do not need superfluous funds. We’ll take only what is needed,” he said before the start of a governmental meeting.
