You're reading: Ukrainian gas stocks shrink 42 percent since start of heating season

Gas stocks in Ukrainian underground gas storage (UGS) facilities decreased by 42.1 percent or 7.041 billion cubic meters between October 20, when the heating season got under way, and January 24, gas pipeline operator Ukrtransgaz said. 

UGS facilities contained 16.75 bcm of gas on October 20, falling to 9.709 bcm on January 24.

The UGS facilities contained 11.46 bcm of gas on December 31, 2014, 18 percent down from 13.95 bcm on December 31, 2013.

Ukrtransgaz has 12 UGS facilities with a total capacity of 31 bcm at its disposal.
