You're reading: Ukrainian trade deficit more than doubles in first three months of 2012

Ukraine's foreign trade deficit amounted to $3.855 billion at the end of the first half of 2012, 2.2 times greater year-on-year, the State Statistics Service said in a statement.

Exports in H1, 2012 were up 2% at $40.267 billion and imports 7% at $44.122 billion.

The export of goods grew 2.7% over the six months to $33.678 billion, goods imports 6.6% to $40.894 billion. The export of services contracted 1% to $6.59 billion, but those imports climbed 12.8% to $3.23 billion.

Ukraine ended last year with a trade deficit of $6.748 billion, up 2.2 times from 2010. Exports grew 30% to $82.107 billion and imports 34.2% to $88.855 billion.
