The State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) has stopped supporting the WebMoney online service for the purchase of tickets, reads an explanation of Ukrzaliznytsia posted in the Facebook social network.

The report says that the issues of the operation of payment systems
are regulated by the law on payment systems and remittances in Ukraine,
Article 9 of which says that the rules of the interstate payment system
and international payment system, of which a payment organization is
resident, are to be agreed by the payment organization of the payment
system with the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).

According to the law, payment system services or the electronic money
system may not be provided without the approval of the systems’ rules
by NBU.

“Today the rules of the WebMoney system are not agreed with the NBU
in line with the requirements of Ukrainian law on the operation of
payment systems or transactions with electronic money. Thus, the
operation of the WebMoney system is illegal,” reads the report.

Ukrzaliznytsia said that the list of payment and electronic money
systems, the rules of which are approved by the NBU, is posted on the
official Web site of the central bank in the Payment System section.

“Taking into account the above-mentioned facts, Ukrzaliznytsia took
measures to stop providing services using the WebMoney system at the
recommendation of the NBU,” the administration said.

As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia introduced the online sale of tickets using the WebMoney system on September 27, 2012.

The WebMoney Transfer system was established in 1998.
