The railways of Ukraine in January-February 2013 increased daily cargo loading by 3.1% compared to the same period in 2012, to 913,909 tonnes.

“The trend of February is encouraging, the demand for rail transportation has increased, which reflects positive changes in the economy of companies and the industry as a whole,” reads a press release of State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia, with reference to its director general Serhiy Bolobolin.

According to him, the increase in revenues from transportation, seeking cargo and work on changing the structure of goods remain the priority in the activities of the railway transport.

As reported, Ukrainian railways in February 2013 daily loaded 969,216 tonnes of cargo, or 15,183 cars, which is 2% up on the target and 9.8% up from February 2012.
