The growth in poultry output in Ukraine in 2013 could come to 14-15% compared to 2012, according to Board Chairman of the Union of Poultry Farmers, Oleksandr Bakumenko.

“We expect that production growth next year will be 14-15%,” he told Interfax-Ukraine.

The expert said that this year poultry production could reach 1.05
million tonnes, compared to the almost one million tonnes output last
year.

He said poultry output would be increased due to a boosting of facilities by key market players.

Bakumenko also said that next year Ukraine would increase poultry
exports to 120,000-150,000 tonnes. This year it will tentatively total
80,000 tonnes, while in 2010 Ukraine supplied some 50,000 tonnes to
foreign markets.

He said that Ukraine supplies poultry to 21 countries.

Bakumenko noted that Ukraine mainly exports frozen chicken.

As reported, referring to the data of the Union of Poultry Farmers,
in 2011, domestic poultry consumption in the country came to one million
tonnes compared to 953,500 tonnes in 2010.

In January-November 2012, Ukraine produced 963,000 tonnes of poultry, which is 6.5% up year-over-year.
