The VoxUkraine group of economists, jointly with business associations, nongovernmental organizations and civil activists, have urged the Ukrainian authorities to start urgent radical reforms, not waiting for the parliamentary elections, due to the threat of the loss of statehood of Ukraine, reads an open letter to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

‘The situation in Ukraine is very critical: people and business are more and more disappointed with the absence of changes for better, and they will soon start doubting that there is the political will to fight corruption, ensure the rule of law and improve the business environment,’ reads the letter.

‘To save the country from internal collapse and hinder the plans of the aggressor to destroy its economy, we call on you to unite patriots of Ukraine around joint work to save the country and urgently start a wave of radical reforms, not postponing the decisions until the parliamentary election,’ reads the document.

Moreover, the parliamentary election could create new internal conflicts, as Russia could use the situation to stir up dissatisfaction and provoke another political crisis, the experts warn.

Taking into account the fact that the list of the required reforms is a wide one, the experts said that their top-priority should be determined as soon as possible.

According to the letter, attention should be paid not only to the top-priority directions of reforms, but also persons who will manage the changes in the state.
