A.S. Watson Group (China), which owns the Watsons retail chain in Ukraine (earlier DC) selling cosmetics, perfumes, household and personal care products, plans to open six stores in Ukraine in July, expanding the chain to 295 outlets.

“We’re approaching to the opening of the 300th store in Ukraine. The
300th store will be opened in late August or early September,” the head
of the marketing department at Watsons Ukraine, Ihor Didok, wrote on its
Facebook page.

He said that the six stores that will be opened in July will be
located in Kyiv, Ternopil, Sloviansk (Donetsk region), Vilnohirsk
(Dnipropetrovsk region), Izmail (Odesa region) and Melitopol (Zaporizhia
region).

International A.S. Watson Group, which in 2006 bought a 65 percent stake in the DC retail chain, built up a 100 percent stake in the business.

A.S. Watson Group in 2012 opened 34 stores and at present it unites 278 stores and 20 pharmacies in Ukraine.

The company earlier said that it planned to invest Hr 300 million in the chain’s expansion to 500 stores until 2016.

The first DC store was opened in Kyiv in 1997.

A.S. Watson Group uniting over 10,000 retail stores in 33 countries,
is part of Hong Kong’s Hutchison Whampoa Limited, which operates
businesses in ports and related services, telecommunications, property
and hotels, retail and manufacturing, and energy and infrastructure.
