Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has ordered officials to prepare and submit by July 2013 for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada a draft law introducing amendments to certain laws to stimulate the production of modern electric and diesel trains in Ukraine.

Such an instruction is contained in the national action plan for 2013 on the implementation of the economic reform program for 2010-2014 “Rich Society, Competitive Economy, Effective State,” which was approved by a decree of the head of state and posted on his Web site.

The instruction was given to Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, the Infrastructure Ministry, the Finance Ministry, the Justice Ministry, the State Administration of Railway Transport (by consent) and the Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

As reported, Yanukovych also ordered the purchase by December 2013 of 248 domestically-produced passenger wagons at the expense of the state budget, as well as 200 compartment cars, 41 passenger wagons with seats for persons with disabilities, and seven special-purpose wagons.
