Yanukovych: Ukraine to implement program to diversify energy supplies

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said it is important for Ukraine to diversify its energy supplies, the presidential press service has reported. "We have adopted a program for energy conservation and the diversification of gas supplies to Ukraine, and its substitution with other energy sources," Yanukovych told reporters in Kirovohrad on Tuesday.

He added that the issue concerned, in particular, the replacement of gas with electricity and coal.

In this context, Yanukovych drew attention to the importance of the development of the coal and chemicals industries.
