Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that Ukraine will soon increase the supplies of organic food to international markets at an affordable price.

"While dynamically developing its own agriculture, Ukraine is planning to stimulate the production of organic food. In the near future, we will increase the supplies of such products to international markets at an affordable price. We have great potential for this," the presidential press service quoted Yanukovych as saying on Tuesday at a high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases.

He also noted that healthy nutrition was an important factor in disease prevention and health maintenance.

Yanukovych said that taking into account a global food shortage, food quality was becoming even more important.

Yanukovych said that by supplying such products to international markets, Ukraine would contribute to improving the quality of food in the world.
