You're reading: Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant outs first reactor back on stream

Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) put its first power unit back on stream at 2. 34 am on Sept. 29 after the planned repairs were completed ahead of schedule, National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom's press service reported on Saturday.

The repairs were scheduled to last until October 1.

Thus, five reactors are in operation at Zaporizhia NPP. Reactor 2 is currently undergoing repairs and reactor 3 is operating at reduced capacity.

Radiation levels at Zaporizhia NPP are normal, the press service said.

Energoatom is the operator of all four operating nuclear power plants in Ukraine. It operates Zaporizhia, Yuzhnoukrainsk, Rivne and Khmelnytsky plants with 15 VVER reactors whose total installed electrical capacity is 13.835 GW.
