You're reading: Ukrainian Banking Forum “Rebuilding Banking”

CIS bankers brings together 200 senior executives from the financial services sector and affiliated businesses on October 30 and 31 in Premier Palace Hotel, Kyiv. Over two days they will cover a wide variety of topics related to innovation, entrepreneurial banking, strategy and leadership.

Day 1: Innovation & Entrepreneurial Banking

In today’s new reality, amidst the country’s war, political turmoil and economic downturn, the operating environment for financial services companies in Ukraine is becoming increasingly difficult. It will pose an opportunity for new players in the market and other, more established banks may have to re-invent themselves and rediscover the bank’s entrepreneurial spirit.

Igor Doroshenko, CEO at Bank Mikhailovskiy, will share the secrets of his bank’s success after this start-up took the market by storm just over a year ago. Tamas Hak-Kovacs, CEO at OTP Bank has identified the need to regain customer confidence as one of the top priorities and will share his views and ideas. Robert Kossmann, Deputy CEO at Raiffeisen Bank Aval will talk about SME Banking, which he sees as the next growth opportunity in Ukraine.

There will also be a workshop on Innovation in Financial Services, led by AE Leadership founder Morten Kriek. Guest speakers during this workshop are Brett King, the world famous author of Bank 2.0, Bank 3.0 and Breaking Banks and the founder of Moven, the branchless bank in the US and Rene Frijters, founder of the first ever online investment bank Alex in the 90’s and currently the CEO and founder of Knab, a branchless bank in The Netherlands.

Day 2: Strategy & Leadership

The best intentions and ideas will not be good enough to succeed when you have not got the right strategy defined and good leadership in place to execute it. We therefore look in more detail at the economic rehabilitation and how to get European investors to return (Alexander Lobanov, Supervisory Board, Unison Bank) and how regional economic development is vital to attract foreign capital (Dmytro Krepak, CEO, Kredobank).

Giorgi Shagidze, CFO at TBC Bank, will join us from Georgia to share his bank’s experience on a successful IPO on the London Stock Exchange and discuss what lessons we can learn from this.

In the afternoon, after Taras Kirichenko, CEO at Pravex-Bank, shares his experience on Personal Leadership, we will be treated to a presentation on Decision Making Styles by Professor Emeritus from Harvard Business School, Quinn Mills. The formal part of the day will conclude with a 2-hour master class on Inspiring Leadership by Richard Boyatzis, professor at Case Western Reserve University and one of the world’s most influential international thinkers according to HR Magazine.

At the end of the first day there will be a CIS bankers networking reception. On the second day, 31 October, we will close the event with a grandiose CIS bankers Halloween Party where several luxury brand partners will join us for an evening full of entertainment and prizes.
