Work has begun on Kyiv’s main street, Khreschatyk, on the construction of the official fan zone for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, which will function in the Ukrainian capital from June 7 to July 1.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that on May 28, the tournament’s official sponsors had started bringing their own equipment. Tents, in which the products of sponsors will be sold, as well as toilets, and fan-shops, in which it will be possible to buy various products with Euro 2012 symbols, are already being installed. In addition, various types of work are also being conducted by Kyiv’s utility services.

The section of the road on Khreschatyk Street from Instytutska Street to Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street is currently closed to traffic.

Only special and accredited vehicles are admitted to this section (under Kyiv City State Administration resolution No. 512 of March 30, 2012). Entrance to the fan zone will be carried out through passes. They can be obtained at Kyiv City State Administration (the committee on Euro 2012).
