Moscow -- The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) militants may resume prisoner exchanges with Kyiv this week, DPR ombudswoman Darya Morozova told Interfax.

“We are holding intensive negotiations and a small number of detainees may be exchanged for our supporters this week if everything goes well,” she said.

The militants not prohibit captured Ukrainian servicemen from speaking to their families by phone, Morozova said.

She added she was ready to help the parents of missing Ukrainian servicemen in their search.

As reported earlier, the DPR militants had suspended prisoner exchanges “because of the mismatch between the persons exchanged by Ukraine and the lists [of exchanged prisoners].” In all, the DPR militants had exchanged Ukrainian captives for 231 of its supporters throughout the period of conflict in southeastern Ukraine.
