If she would have won the election, VY would be on trial for something or other, no?
No, probably not. Yulia could easily have prosecuted Viktor for "selling" KrivoiRogStal in 2004 to his bandit friend Akhmetov for $800 million when there were far higher offers from other interested buyers. She didn't. Instead, she simply cancelled the deal and sold the plant in a public auction, which eventually resulted in the sale to Mittal for $4,8 BILLION- a cool 4 billion more than Viktor got. So, even if Yulia's gas deal DID result in a loss of $190 million for the Ukrainian government (which is doubtful at best), Yulia is still 4 - 0,19 = 3,81 billion ahead.
But you can bet your last dollar that the moment Yulia or an ally becomes President at some time in the future, Viktor will suffer the same persecution that Yulia, Lutsenko and the others are udergoing now. Viktor won't be President forever- he would be wise to remember that.

President Viktor Yanukovych and his Party of Regions are standing on a precipice. If a guilty verdict results in the imprisonment or the denial of Yulia Tymoshenko's right to stand for public office they will have to take immediate measures to negate or neutralize the decision Of Judge Rodion Kireyev. If these measures are not undertaken then they will be fully responsible for the dire consequences that are almost certain to follow. The very last thing that Ukraine needs at this point in time is to follow in the footsteps of airheads such as Alyaksandr Lukashenka of Belarus'.
All those hooligans
into prison NOW !
The infestation continues. Step on the cockroach and his roaches before he infests every part of Ukrainian life!

Will be interesting to see how the citizens of Ukraine react to this verdict - or do they really care? An oligarth has been put in prison -so what? Yulia missed the opportunity to change the situation in the country by spending most of her time fighting with her political opponents rather than concentrating on helping the people when she was Prime Minister - I am sure she regrets that now.
Was she at fault for the gas deal? Hard to say, the Russians were not going to give the Ukraine a decent price no matter what - she brokered a deal that meant gas flowed through the pipes! Had no deal been done - or she was not prepared to accept what was on offer there would be no gas! The Ukraine was never in a position of power to negotiate. So, she has been jailed for doing the best she could in the circumstances - and why has Yanu not stepped in and said to Putin we need to talk about htis deal? Quite simply, they ae not going to offer anything better.....
I like Yulia - I question some of her decisions whilst in power, she has made mistakes but not so to end her in jail. Yanu has just created a dictatorship in the Ukraine, as there is no real opposition anymore - it is now up to the people to decide if they are happy to go even further backwards and live under the yoke of a dictator - or if they truly want to live in a free and progressive nation!
As the MP reported, authors of the draft bill recommend that the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers to pass buildings of the Pochayiv Lavra to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

All is as was planned. Russia speaks one way but pulls the strings in the other. Yanuk can now blame the EU for not allowing Ukraine to join; his only 'option' now will be to join the union lead by who else if not Russia. Make no mistake---these are planned events.
Spot on!
"Yu and Ya = same shit. = At least someone got it right
most sensible thing said all day
U talk ka ka ka
Tymu is not worth fighting for,
She let the USA down, she turned her back on poor Ukrainians, she had not accomplished anything tangible progressive foranyone, except stuffed her own pocket and was caught with her fingers in the till.
The west needs to distance itself from Tymu, and build a more honest relationship with Ukraininas whose credibility is not as tarnished and deplorable as Julia's...
Tymu is not worth fighting for,, we need to move on and build the future instead of bickering about crooked leaders of the past...
Tymu's days are over,,,, lets move on.... and build a cooperating peacefull society...
Conflict should have nothing to do with a "like" or "dislike" of Tymoshenko, Either way, trial was unfair and not representative of independent judiciary. Ukrainians of all opinions regarding Tymoshenko should be discontent. Misappropriation of justice can be applied to anyone in Ukraine. Everyone needs to fight for change.
I agree
Tymuchenko's trial was a sham, she got off just about scar free, with only seven years jail, for forcing Ukraine to a war with russia on behalf of israel and usa, and bankrupting ukraine and robbing it 12 billion dollars over tha past 15 years. her ex partner ukrainian president is in jail in usa. Tymu volunteered to drive ukrine to war against russia, got forgiven by the usa, the usa also paid her billions in loans to ukraine she transfered to her personal accounts and bought 4 dozen palaces in europe and elswhere... then she told putin ukraine is going to attack russia via georgia with usa and israel, so putin gave her billions and forgave her too. What a whitch Tymu is, and only got 7 years for it\
yes the trial was unfair, it all benefited tymu far too much
Eurasian Union and "cooperating peaceful society" is a contradiction in terms
Yanukovych and his henchmen still don't understand that their fascism and false persecution is exposed and is condemned by the entire EU and free world. Time for action. Freeze their personal assets. Withdraw participation in Euro 2012. Freeze all potential EU membership benefits. The Ukrainian people will rise up. Currently the people are not even aware of accurate current events because Yanukovych controls the media and persecutes free speech. Yanukovych is another Ghadaffi and must be stopped.
