Ukrainian citizens' unrest with the country's police force is taking more creative forms.
Two unidentified men stopped their car on the Povitroflotsky bridge on July 22, took out a dummy dressed in a police uniform, placed a plastic bag around its head and hanged the doll off the bridge, witnesses reported. The two men didn’t leave any message and have not yet publicly explained their action.
It is unknown if the dummy is still hanging from the bridge.
Public outrage over the behavior of Ukraine’s law enforcement bubbled up this month after an incident in Mykolaiv Oblast in which a woman was brutally raped by police. It began on June 30 in the southern Ukrainian town of Vradiyivka, where a mob stormed the local police station after two local police lieutenants allegedly gang-raped a 29-year-old woman and had attempted to cover up the crime.
The variety of other crimes allegedly committed by the police and which remain unsolved have been also brought into focus.
