Kyiv can raise a foreign loan in 2014 to continue constructing Podilsky bridge, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has said.

“Today, Hr 4.5 million is needed just to launch car traffic on Podilsky bridge. I talked to those involved in the bridge’s construction – with proper funding they are ready to finish it within one-and-a-half to two years,” Klitschko said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine news agency on Friday.

According to him, due to lack of funding, the realization of the project could be delayed again.

“Thus we’re looking into the possibility of attracting an additional credit for these goals. A foreign loan will be suitable,” he said.

According to the mayor, at the beginning of 2015, Kyiv is expecting money from a credit given to the capital by Japan to reconstruct the Bortnychi aeration station.

“The money will start coming already at the beginning of 2015. This is a six-year program. Thus $1 billion, which is more than Hr 10 billion, will be spent within five-six years,” Klitschko said.
