You're reading: Kyiv announces emergency situation because of bad weather

An emergency situation has been announced in Kyiv due to the potential threat to the capital's business and utilities facilities from poor weather conditions, reads an address by Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov to city residents. 

According to it, municipal services, subdivisions of the Emergencies Ministry, Defense Ministry, Interior Ministry, building organizations and industrial enterprises will work around the clock. Appeals to the ministries have been sent to involve students in removing snow. Health establishments in Kyiv are working in an intensified regime.

Popov said within the next twenty-four-hours the city will mobilize all possible human and technical resources to fight the bad weather.

He asked drivers asking to avoid using the roads. He said a temporary regime for the use of care evacuators had been introduced.

Popov called the Kyiv resident to be careful in the difficult weather conditions, and observe simple safety rules.
