You're reading: Kyiv city selling 9.5 percent stake in Kalita farm

The territorial community of Kyiv city has announced a tender to select an appraiser of a 9.53 percent stake in public joint-stock company Kalita farm, reads a report published in the Khreschatyk newspaper on July 31, 2013.

The report says that the territorial community owns 16.4 million ordinary shares in the farm.

As reported, Kalita farm breeds pigs and produces meat and meat products.

Closed joint-stock company Smart-holding created in December 2006 owns public joint-stock company Kalita farm.

In May 2013, Forbes Ukraine reported that negotiations on the sale of
Kalita farm to the Danish holding Axzon, which breeds pigs and produces
pork in Poland and Ukraine, are underway. The deal is too long and
could be a failure due to difficulties in the ownership structure of the
farm – due to the large number of minority shareholders.

Axzon owns over 30 pig farms in Poland and around 10 farms in
Ivano-Frankivsk region (Danosha Company), pork processing facilities in
Poland a small processing facility in Denmark. The group gas eight
biogas facilities in Poland and one in Ukraine. It cultivates 10,000
hectares of farmland in Ukraine and 13,000 hectares in Poland.

Every year Axzon breeds around 650,000 pigs and produces 40,000 tonnes of pork and 60 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
