You're reading: Kyiv youth marches with demand for affordable housing

Young people, who do not have housing, have marched in the Kyiv downtown demanding that the state authorities should provide them with affordable housing, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent has reported.

About 150 students and non-government organization activists marched in the central streets of the city, stopping near the buildings of Kyiv City State Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada.

The participants in the action required a reduction in the cost of mortgage credits for young people, an increase in the funding of the construction of affordable and social housing, the construction of students’ and postgraduates’ dormitories, as well as a decrease in corruption pressure on the construction industry so that apartments in Ukrainian cities would not be more expensive than those in most European capitals.
