Kyiv-based Universal Collection Group Ltd. and Brovary-based M.D. Group Ltd. have won a tender conducted by public JSC Kyivenergo to collect debts, penalties, losses and interest rates incurred as a result of consumers' improper fulfillment of their obligations.

According to a posting on the Web site of the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry, the acceptation date for all agreements (five lots) is May 18, 2011. The final term for the signing of the agreement between the sides is June 17, 2011.

Universal Collection Group won two lots to collect debts of consumers for heat and electricity and a lot to collect similar debts from consumers that are subordinated to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.

The value of the first two agreements could be 25% of the debt and the value of the third agreement would be 30% of the debt.

M.D. Group won a lot to collect debts for heat and electricity and a lot to collect similar debts only from individuals.

The value of the first agreement to be signed between Kyivenergo and M.D. Group could be 25% of the debt, and the second agreement could cost 30% of the debt.

The term of the service rendering by the debt collectors is three years from the moment of the signing of the agreement.

As reported, in May 2010 Kyivenergo signed an agreement worth UAH 15 million with Ukrainian Collection Group to collect debts.

Kyivenergo operates almost all of the energy generating facilities in Ukraine’s capital, except for the Darnytsia heat and power station.

National JSC Energy Company of Ukraine owns a 50% plus one share stake in the energy company. A 39.98% stake belongs to DTEK private vertically integrated holding.
