You're reading: Kyiv’s main square Maidan cleared of tents

The tent camp at Kyiv's main square Maidan has ceased to exist. Almost all the tents on both sides of Khreschatyk and adjoining streets have been removed, the Interfax correspondent reported.

Currently only one big green tent is installed on the side of Liadski gate behind a scene frame with the inscription coordination council for mobilization. One more tent is set up at the intersection of Instytutska Street and Khreschatyk, in front of the building where the Maidan press office is.

The square still has a frame of a New Year tree, which is covered with flags and different posters. The frame of the Maidan scene with the Ukrainian flags, some other flags and portraits of those killed during the pro-EU Maidan is still up on the pedestrian section.

Traffic on Khreschatyk and adjoining streets has been opened, except for a lower section of Instytutska Street, where barricades still remain.

It has been reported that through traffic on Khreschatyk was resumed on Aug. 10.
