Kyiv's Town Hall owes UAH 151,600 to PJSC Kyivenergo for electricity consumed by the Town Hall building at 36 Khreschatyk Street in December 2013, Kyivenergo's press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

“Kyivenergo verifies electricity consumption and payment on a monthly basis, and in case of debts, it notifies a consumer. Further actions to settle the debts are determined on the basis of signed agreements,” the company said.

Kyivenergo did not disclose whether representative of Kyiv City Council and Kyiv City Administration suggested that the company either limit or disconnect the electricity supply to the Town Hall building or whether they explained the causes of the debts.

Kyivenergo also did not inform whether it planned to disconnect the Town Hall building from the electricity grids, saying that it acts according to the current legislation.

Kyivenergo reported that the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine has no debts for electricity supplies to its House of Trade Unions at 2 Maidan Nezalezhnosti and the International Culture and Arts Center (Oktiabrsky Palace) at 1 Instytutska Street.

“Presently, electricity, heat and hot water are supplied to the said buildings (36 Khreschatyk Street, 2 Maidan Nezalezhnosti, 1 Instytutska Street) in full,” the company said.

As was reported, the Town Hall, the House of Trade Unions and Oktiabrsky Palace are partly used by protesters who have been participating in Euromaidan protest rallies downtown Kyiv since the beginning of December 1, 2013.
