Museum worker with 35 years of experience appointed acting director of Kyiv Pechersk Lavra

Natalia Klymenko has been appointed acting director general of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Historical and Cultural Reserve, reads a statement posted on the Web site of the Ukrainian Culture Ministry.

Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage and Cultural Assets at the Culture Ministry Andriy Vinhranovsky introduced the new head to the staff of the reserve on Friday.

Klymenko is a museum worker with 35 years of experience. In 1977, she worked as a senior fellow at Kyiv Maksym Rylsky Literary-Memorial Museum. From August 1977 to 2012, her activity was related to the Taras Shevchenko State Museum, where she began working as a researcher, and from December 2005 to January 2012, she led the museum as director general.

As reported, the previous director general of the reserve, Viktoria Lisnycha, was sacked on August 9 following the dismissal of a number of employees and a scandal with a bribe that former Deputy Director General for International Cooperation Vlada Prokayeva allegedly gave Culture Minister Mykhailo Kulyniak for her post.
