The Ukrainian parliament has decided to provide Hr 1.8 billion of subvention from the national budget to Kyiv city and the funds will be spent on its fulfillment of the function of the country's capital.

The press service of Kyiv City Administration has reported with the
reference to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the parliament made the amendments
to the budget on Thursday, July 31.

“With the approval of the amendments to the budget we’ve received
additional funds to the budget of the capital. This is very important
today and it will allow changing the difficult situation in Kyiv and
start fulfilling the required reforms,” reads the report, citing
Klitschko who gave a lobby interview to journalists in the Ukrainian
parliament.

He said that in turn, Kyiv City Council on Thursday, July 31 decided to strengthen the financial discipline.

“This will allow receiving Hr 850 million to the budget of Kyiv and saving over Hr 260 million of expenses,” Klitschko said.

As reported, at the closed session on Thursday, the parliament
amended the Tax Code of Ukraine along with the approval of amendments to
the national budget for 2014.

According to the budget of the capital for 2013, the subvention to
the city budget from the national budget to fulfill the function of the
capital was foreseen in the amount of Hr 750 million: it was planned to
send the funds to build the Teremky subway station, the Podilsky bridge
and reconstruct the transport hub on the Poshtova Square.
