Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said that the capital will not face any problems with gas supplies during the heating season.

"I would like to stress again that there will be no problems with gas supplies during the heating season," he told reporters on Tuesday.

Popov also said that on December 6 Kyiv City State Administration finished paying for the difference between Kyivenergo’s heat supply tariffs and the price it pays for gas.

"Yesterday this issue was closed. We finished covering the difference between Kyivenergo’s tariffs and the price it pays for gas," he said.

"You know that before my appointment we had a debt of UAH 2 billion. Today we closed this issue," he added.

As reported, Kyiv took a UAH 500 million loan (UAH 250 million from each Ukreximbank and Oschadbank) at 12% per annum to pay the difference between Kyivenergo’s tariffs and the price it pays for gas.

Earlier, Popov said that due to the change of the legislative procedure of tariff regulation, starting from August 1 the difference between tariffs for housing and utilities services had to be compensated for from the national budget.
