Kyiv and Moscow have good prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation, according to Head of Kyiv City Administration Oleksandr Popov.
"I think Kyiv and Moscow have good prospects for the development of their relations, and we're mutually interested in each other's cooperation," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
He said that Kyiv and Moscow have many things in common.
"When I talk to my Moscow colleagues I have a feeling that we have a carbon copy of everything: they have the issue of retaining the high streets of the city on the agenda, and we have it; we have a transport problem, kiosks and subway construction, and they have them. Everything is so similar, but it couldn't be any other way: the concepts and visions of city development in the Soviet Union were the same, including for [the development] of capitals," Popov said.
There are some differences, he added.
"My own opinion is that Kyiv is a cozier place. We have things that Moscow does not have: the wide River Dnipro, the banks of the Dnipro, and this is a prospect from the point of view of tourism. There is no such potential not only in Moscow, but in other large cities of Europe, so our task is to retain everything and develop. This is our advantage," he said.
He said that there is mutual understanding between the leaderships of the two capitals
