Two museums will be opened in Kyiv to mark Independence Day.
"The key event [on Independence Day] will be the opening of two museums with ready expositions – the museum of the history of Kyiv and the museum of the Thaw writers," Acting First Deputy Head of the Main Culture Department of Kyiv City State Administration Valentyna Linovytska said at a meeting on the preparations for the celebration of Day of the State Flag and Independence Day in Kyiv.
She said that the museum of the history of Kyiv is equipped with the latest multimedia equipment.
In turn, Head of the Main Department for Interior Policy and Public Liaisons of Kyiv City State Administration Maryna Khonda said that the holidays will be marked in the center of the capital.
"The whole territory of the central part of the city will be used for the celebration of Independence Day," she said.
High-ranking officials and Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych will attend the events.
Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov told journalists that mostly sponsors and Maecenas will fund the celebrations in the city, and the municipal budget will cover only small costs.
"Around Hr 200,000-300,000 [will be taken from the municipal budget]. In general, I think, we will spend Hr 2-3 million," Popov said.
