Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said that the sooner mayoral election takes place in the capital the better.

"I think the sooner we hold it the better. This process should take place in Kyiv," he said on Monday.

Popov added that the parliament should decide on the date of the election. He said he hopes the Verkhovna Rada would consider the issue in September.

"I don't care who will be my competitor. I am set to active work before and after the election," he said.
