You're reading: Protest of Svoboda activists near Central Election Commission building in Kyiv comes to an end

A rally organized by the all-Ukrainian association Svoboda, who was protesting against vote-rigging in the recent parliamentary elections near the building of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) on Thursday, Oct. 30, comes to an end.

The rally was quiet, no violations registered. For a moment people left the square outside the CEC building, an Interfax correspondent reported.

Svoboda earlier said the vote in the Oct. 26 elections had been rigged to prevent it from getting into the parliament. The organization’s activists announced a protest rally called Defend Your Vote held at the building of the Central Elections Commission building.

Now that 99.58 percent of the protocols have been processed, Svoboda is not going to pass the 5 percent barrier to get into the parliament and has only received 4.71 percent of the votes. At the same time, six Svoboda representatives are apparently winning in one-mandate districts.
